Nyandarua bans Sundays as Market Days (April 2019)
The Nyandarua county government has banned Sunday market days amid protests by traders.Governor Francis Kimemia (pictured) yesterday said the day should instead be dedicated for church services. “Sundays should be dedicated to thanking God and not for trade. Personally, I see it as ungodly for some people to take the advantage of the day not to go to church but to the market. My administration will not encourage this,” he said.

Bring Back The Blue Laws (April 2019)
On March 25, Governor Doug Burgum signed legislation repealing the state’s blue laws. These laws, which made it illegal for retail stores to be open from midnight to noon on Sundays, used to be common throughout the country. But now, only some liquor stores are still subject to such constraints. Sunday rest for retail is a relic of the past.
